Supervisors for the lattice projects of the Doctoral College are Christof Gattringer and Christian Lang. The fellowships are for a total of three years, and the students in the doctoral college are paid about 1600 Euros per month and will be health insured by us (the 1600 is, however, before taxes). In addition the students will by supported with up to 5000 Euros per year for conference visists and additional training activities. We plan to fill the positions as soon as possible. The application (CV, list of publications, short description of master thesis and two letters of reference) should be sent to Christof Gattringer. For contact details see the signature box below, for further information please visit the homepage of the doctoral college at http://physik.kfunigraz.ac.at/itp/doktoratskolleg/index.php -- --------------------------------------------------------------- Christof Gattringer Institut f. As you probably have heard, on August 8 John Negele had a terrible bike accident. After being in Brigham and Women's Hospital and then in Massachusetts General Hospital, since October 1 John is in the Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Boston. His daughter Julia has created a CaringBridge website http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/johnnegele to update friends and colleagues about John's situation. Although his path towards recovery seems extremely difficult, we all know John to be a person who can beat the odds. While it is sad that we cannot do much to help him in this most difficult and painful situation, we can still send him a message from our community to remind him that we all have him in our thoughts and wish him well. This will most definitely help him lift his spirits. For this reason four of us have made a card for John, which you can find at the following web address: http://www.phy.duke.edu/~sch/John/card.pdf If you wish to sign the card, simply send an email to latticefieldtheory at gmail.com and just provide your name and your institution on the subject line as you wish to appear in the card. All signatories will be listed alphabetically. We will also leave a copy of the card and the signatures on Julia's CaringBridge website. Please respond by November 27, 2009 if you wish to be included.
